Why Pamporovo?

Pamporovo is located in the famous and mythical Rhodopi Mountains in Southwest Bulgaria. The mountain is famous not only as a place offering magnificent natural charms, but also as a centre of the ancient Thracian culture - the most ancient culture in Europe. From the ancient times this place is known as a cradle of myths and legends. One of the most famous is the myth for the singer Orpheus who was born here. Today the mountain offers wonderful opportunities for cultural tourism and recreation. The delicious traditional cuisine, the warm hospitality of local people and the wonderful folklore (one of the traditional song of the Rhodope flies in the Cosmos) make Pamporovo a perfect destination for vacation. Located among the dense pine forests of the Rhodopi, Pamporovo quickly becomes one of the most popular Bulgarian mountain resorts. The complex is located 1650-m above the sea level and its highest point is Snezhanka peak - 1926-m high. The climate is moderate-mountain, with strong Mediterranean influence. With more than 200 sunny days a year, the resort is considered the sunniest mountain resort in Europe. Pamporovo offers wonderful conditions for skiing, with average thickness of snow cover about 140-150 cm and many ski-runs with different difficulty. The Alpine runs are with total length 17.5 km, and the biathlon runs - with length 34 km. In the resort there are 18 ski lifts, 5 chair lifts and 13 ski-tows with total capacity 8500 persons per hour. The additional services, which are offered to skiers, are ski schools, ski kindergartens and 24-hour rescue service. The nearest airport is in Plovdiv city, only 85-km away from the resort.
